Academic position: associate professor
Education, professional experience:
· 1964-1969 studies at the Warsaw University, Department of Arabic and Islamic Studies, graduated in 1969, M.A., thesis: Obraz przemieszczania się plemion arabskich do XV w. (The history and movements of Arabic tribes till 15th century)
· 1969 - 1970 junior assistant in the Department of Arabic and Islamic Studies 1971 two semesters at Cairo University (language and literature)
· 1971 - 1973 assistant and memeber of the editorial staff of biweekly ”Aktualności Radiowo-Telewizyjne” (Current topics of Radio and Television) at Oœrodek Badań Opinii Publicznej (The Centre for Research of Public Opinion at Komitet Radia i Telewizji - Polskie Radio i Telewizja, Warszawa (The Committee for Radio and Television Polish Radio and Television, Warsaw
· 1973 - 1977 - assistant lecturer in the Institute of African Studies at the University of Warsaw ( now the Institute of Developing Countries of Asia, Africa and Latin America),
· 1975 - 1976 two semesters in the Institute of Theatrical Arts, Cairo ( studies in the Arab drama and theatre) · 1977 - assistant lecturer and tutor in the Department of Arabic and Islamic Studies, the University of Warsaw - still working as professor
· 1979 Ph. D. from the University of Warsaw (Oriental Institute). The dissertation was entitled: Obraz przemian społeczno-politycznych w dramaturgii egipskiej lat 1871-1975 (The reflexion of socio-political changes in the Egyptian drama between 1871 to 1975).
· 1993 habilitation; the thesis was entitled:Główne kierunki rozwojowe dramaturgii arabskiej (The current trends in the Arabic drama)
· 1998 associate professor of the Warsaw University
· 1999 associate professor and head of the Department of Cultures of the World at the Warsaw School of Social Psychology SWPS; still working.
· 1997-2001 - participant in the international research program Mémoires de la Méditerranée under auspicies European Cultural Foundation.
· 2006 - professor
